The Club de patinage artistique de Mont-Tremblant inc., Mont-Tremblant's figure skating club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to learning figure skating.
"Figure skating is currently one of the most popular sports in today's world. In Canada, more than six million persons lace up their skates every year and there are many winter events that offer figure skating"
The Patinage Plus (skating plus) program is an initiation to skating for beginners of all ages. It focuses on enjoyment, participation and mastery of the basic skills. Skaters can take advantage of the advice and talents of more advanced skaters who offer their services on a volunteer basis, after having taken training, to help the little ones under the supervision of a professional coach.
The ideal age suggested for registration is 4 years. However, the club accepts children who have reached 3 years of age on September 1st, on a trial basis. If the child's level of maturity and behaviour is appropriate, the child may continue in the program.
There are a number of competitions during the season. The year-end show is presented in April and is developed by a committee.
Given that the skating season finishes fairly early, there are outside clubs that offer spring or summer schools. Skaters who want to advance more quickly and in particular, to extend their season, like to participate in these schools. If, when the time comes, this opportunity interests the skater, it would be advisable to discuss the possibility with his or her coach.
Each month, a skating newsletter is given to each skater to keep her or him abreast of coming events and competition results, or to provide little reminders
