Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is the Ville's largest department in terms of both budget and staff. It has close to 60 employees, blue collar, management and white collar workers who, together, ensure that the roads are maintained, streets leveled, potable water treated and sewers unplugged, the mechanical sweeper sent out to clean the streets, flowers planted, lawns cut, street lamps lit, public trash bins emptied, park benches repaired, all municipal buildings maintained and repaired, snow removed and the bus shelters cleared of snow ... plus, of course, the maintenance of the fleet of about 50 vehicles.
Apart from the constancy needed to maintain the quality of services at all times and in all seasons, these many tasks contribute to the well-being of the population and require detailed organization and great versatility, because every day brings unexpected difficulties and specific problems to be resolved.
Public Works has four divisions:
-
Cleaning
-
Parks and buildings
-
Technical services
-
Roads.
The mission of the Public Works Departments is to maintain a high level of service quality at all times and in all seasons, thus contributing to the well-being of the population. The greatest wealth for achieving this mission is the pride of employees, who form a faithful and professional team.
