Bylaws related to alarm systems and false alarms

On August 28, 2006, the règlement (2006)-A-07 bylaw was passed in order to facilitate the work of the police force and to control false alarms on the territory of Mont-Tremblant, including Lac-Tremblant-Nord.

You must obtain a permit, without which you are liable to a minimum fine of $100 (plus costs). The permit is free and compulsory.

Who must request an alarm system permit?

  • All persons who already have an alarm system must obtain a permit certifying that the system has been registered.
  • All persons wishing to use an alarm system: the permit request must be made as soon as the system is installed.

Be careful: a false alarm costs money !

In 2006, the Police Department responded to 1,859 false alarms caused by malfunction or by user negligence. The Ville therefore passed this bylaw to support more efficient police and fire services by reducing useless costs and the risks of accidents during calls. In addition, the time required to respond to false alarms could be invested in other kinds of interventions.
