From one generation to the next, deer become more and more familiar with human presence. In fact, it is no longer uncommon to run across deer in the heart of downtown and see people reach out to feed them. This phenomenon, however, has negative consequences for both animals and humans. For example, deer carry Lyme disease and the closer they come to humans, the greater the risk of transmission of the disease.
