Joint Report

Think ahead! Always keep a copy of the Joint Report form in your glove compartment.

Unless there are injured persons, it is not necessary to request the presence of police officers at the site of a minor accident. Just fill out a Joint Report, a document that will serve to record the contact information of the two drivers involved in the accident and to report the accident to their insurer(s).

Even when police officers come to fill out an accident report, they never establish responsibility between the two parties involved in the accident. It is always your insurer who does that when the occurrence is resolved.
