COVID-19: Mont-Tremblant and Val-David ask visitors to stay home

Le 26 March 2020

Faced with the stream of visitors observed last weekend, particularly from neighbouring provinces, the municipalities of Val-David and Mont-Tremblant are joining voices to remind tourists and other visitors not to visit this region and to remain at home. The goal is to avoid seeing a repeat of the situation this coming weekend.

“All our recreational and cultural events have been cancelled and our recreational and outdoor facilities are closed. This is not a good time for you to visit us. The orders from the government have been clear, namely, to avoid travel between regions or provinces. For the sake of everyone’s health, please stay home,” explains Mont-Tremblant mayor Luc Brisebois.

“I call on visitors to be responsible and to understand that in the current context, their presence in Val-David puts the health of our community at risk and seriously undermines its well-being by increasing the level of stress and overloading our local businesses, which are already trying hard to keep up with demand. Our village is in “pause” mode and cannot welcome or accommodate you,” says Val-David mayor Kathy Poulin.

“To seasonal residents who have chalets in our region: I ask you to make a choice between your permanent residence and your chalet and not to come and go between the two. In travelling back and forth, you could further spread the contamination in the Laurentians, which is what we want to avoid,” adds Mayor Luc Brisebois.

Still speaking in complete accord, Mayor Luc Brisebois and Mayor Kathy Poulin concluded their request by noting that they will be ready to welcome visitors with open arms once the crisis has passed. For now, however, it is important to respect the directives, and to care about ourselves and others in order to save lives.
