Environment and sustainable development

Established in April 2004, the Environment and Sustainable Development Department has as its major mandate the promotion, to council and to citizens, of the generally accepted principles ofenvironmental protection.

It also applies the bylaws and regulations on residual materials, pesticides and fertilizers as well as providing technical support to other Ville departments with respect to environmental issues. It is the link between the Ville and various Ministries having environment-related roles.

The Environment and Sustainable Development Department is also responsible for special environmental programs that the Ville establishes for its various client groups, whether urban agglomerations or rural and vacation property zones.
