Bulky waste (or large refuse) is residual material of domestic origin that is generally too large to be placed in one of the wheeled bins collected by the municipal service: mattresses, garden furniture, electrical appliances, etc.
The City strongly invites citizens to use the ecocentre service in order to get rid of bulky items that cannot be reused. So they can thus be recovered or recycled properly.
DISCARD BULKY ITEMS RESPONSIBLY
A household item that is too big to fit in the rolling bin?
1. SELL IT
Do something new with the old! Think of garage or online sales (Facebook, Kijiji, LesPac, etc.)
2. GIVE IT
Make others happy! Think about charities and re-employment. Some even offer a home pick-up service for your large items. Find out from them!
3. REPAIR IT
Save money! Consider repairing rather than replacing. There are many companies that specialize in repairing items. Find the nearest repairer on the Internet!
4. RECYCLE IT
Is it in poor condition and cannot be repaired? Think about ecocentres. Your obsolete goods will be treated in an environmentally safe way and the recoverable materials will be recycled.
You are not equipped to transport your bulky items?
It is also possible for residents to ask a third party to transport materials to the ecocentre on their behalf (example: neighbour, friend or mover). However, this person must have in hand the proxy form previously completed and signed by the citizen on arrival at the ecocentre. Please do not allow bulky items (or large junk) to pile up at the curb.
