This park is named to honour the memory of parish priest Charles-Hector Deslauriers, first curé of the Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus parish, in Mont-Tremblant. He played a fundamental role in the development of Mont Tremblant, the mountain. His intervention with Premier Maurice Duplessis, in 1938, enabled Joseph Bondurand Ryan to establish his tourist resort. He also founded the Société d’horticulture de Mont-Tremblant and the Association de la vallée de la Rouge, organizations devoted to reforestation of this territory.
