Advice for prevention
Power failures are normally short-lived.
Preparing for a long power failure
- Keep at home, in a safe place:
- Items essential to your basic needs (see emergency kit for a minimum of 72 hours).
- A fondue stove and recommended fuel.
- If you have a wood stove or fireplace, bring in adequate fuel.
- Install a carbon monoxide alarm and check for proper operation (non-electrical).
- Identify a place where you could take refuge in the event of a prolonged breakdown.
