Power failure in winter

Advice for prevention

Power failures are normally short-lived.

Preparing for a long power failure

  • Keep at home, in a safe place:
    • Items essential to your basic needs (see emergency kit for a minimum of 72 hours).
    • A fondue stove and recommended fuel.
    • If you have a wood stove or fireplace, bring in adequate fuel.
    • Install a carbon monoxide alarm and check for proper operation (non-electrical).
    • Identify a place where you could take refuge in the event of a prolonged breakdown.
