What3words Emergency Services

The Ville de Mont-Tremblant is proud to be the first municipality in Québec to provide the what3words service, which allows precise identification of the location of victims throughout its territory. This service will provide greater safety to residents and visitors, particularly during their forest-based activities.

The what3words system has divided the planet into squares three metres by three metres (nine square metres) in size. Each of these squares corresponds to a unique identifier composed of three (3) words. Each combination of words is as precise as GPS coordinates.

BE PREPARED!

Download the free what3words application  immediately (via the App Store or Google Store) to be prepared at all times to signal your position to emergency services should the need arise.

When you contact 911, you will be able to transmit directly the three words – generated automatically by the application – which correspond to your position, even if you don’t have Internet access. Emergency services will immediarly know your position and be able to trigger the intervention or rescue process.

If you do not have the application, the Ville de Mont-Tremblant’s Emergency Services will send you a text message (text, SMS) with a Web link to the what3words site. When you click on the link, the three words associated with your position will appear. All you will have to do is repeat them to Emergency Services for them to identify exactly where you are.
